Shawn Mendes continued his week of taking over the Late Late Show by absolutely destroying host James Corden in a cover battle.

I mean…did you expect any less from Shawn Mendes??
Shawn Mendes got his start covering popular songs on Vine, so when Late Late show host James Corden challenged him to a cover battle, are you really wonder who came out on top? The guys did a skit last night on the talk show where Shawn starts singing “Wonderwall” by Oasis in the same subway station as James, which he isn’t too thrilled with at all.

The celebs duke it out for a bit and then we think James has given up to allow for Shawn to continue wooing the passersby with his incredible vocals. But turns out, James was only getting started and tried to one-up the teenager with a full-out production of “Great Balls of Fire.”

But Shawn wouldn’t go down with a fight and came back doing his best impression of Calvin Harris.

James eventually came back out to perform with mannequin versions of the Backstreet Boys, but Shawn shut it down with a magical rendition of his hit song “There’s Nothing Holdin Me Back,” complete with a gospel choir and him floating down from the sky dressed up like a literal angel.

And if that wasn’t enough excitement for you, Shawn got a little more series as the night went on and performed his song “Like to Be You” with Julia Michaels for the first time ever. The musicians sat super close together on the stage and sang the lyrics directly to each other, so if you’re looking to get some major feels look no further than this performance.

Not gonna lie, Shawn’s Late Late Show takeover is pretty much the best thing I’ve ever seen. First carpool karaoke and now a cover battle AND a performance with Julia Michaels? What could be better?!
