Ruby Rose has been cast as Batwoman in the upcoming CW crossover event and TV series, and we’ve got all the details on Ruby’s exciting new role…

This is definitely gonna be a career-changer for Ruby, and we couldn’t be more excited.

Model and actress Ruby Rose, who has previously starred in ‘Orange is the New Black’ and ‘Pitch Perfect 3’, has officially been cast as Batwoman in the CW’s upcoming crossover event, as well as their upcoming Batwoman TV series. And you can trust me when I say this awesome news only gets better from there.

To catch you up to speed, Batwoman is coming to the CW for their epic annual crossover event between the network’s four DC comics-inspired shows: “The Flash,” “Arrow,” “Legends of Tomorrow,” and “Supergirl.”

Ruby has been cast to star as Kate Kane, aka: Batwoman, and hopefully not just in the crossover event. The CW is also currently developing a whole Batwoman TV series, and from the sounds of it, if this show gets picked up, it’s going to be groundbreaking.

Variety said of Batwoman’s character QUOTE, “Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, she soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.”

Okay I don’t know about you guys, but that’s one of the most interesting and dynamic character descriptions we’ve heard of in a long time. And Ruby’s casting is made even more exciting by the fact that she is an out lesbian who considers herself gender neutral. We’re tipping our hats to the CW for making such a great and inclusive casting choice, and hope that other networks will follow suit.

Of course, all this being said, the Batwoman TV show still has a long way to go before we see it on our small screens. It’s currently still in development, and it’s possible that it might not even get picked up at all. If it does — and we seriously hope it does — it will premier sometime in 2019. So for now, we’re focusing our excitement on seeing Ruby kick some ass in the crossover event later this year.

How about you guys? Are you excited about Ruby being cast as Batwoman, or was there another actress you were hoping to see in the role? And would you watch the Batwoman TV show? Sound off with all your thoughts in the comments below.
