New & Upcoming

If you were a big fan of the ‘90s Halloween flick Hocus Pocus (and let’s be real… who wasn’t?), you’ll be thrilled to know that a new YA novel just hit the shelves on July 10, and it’s called Hocus Pocus and the All-New Sequel.

The novel, which was released by Disney-Hyperion, a publishing house owned by Disney, follows a character named Poppy, who’s actually the teenage daughter of two of the original characters, Max and Allison. Cool, right?! But just wait… it gets even cooler.

In the new book, Poppy’s character has some serious romantic interest in another new character named Isabella, a popular girl who finds herself intrigued by the legend of the Sanderson sisters. A lesbian love story? This is the kind of representation we LOVE to see!

Of course, you’ll have to read the book to find out exactly how Poppy and Isabella’s love story unfolds, but now that we know this new plotline exists, we can’t help but wonder what that means for the film remake of Hocus Pocus that Disney announced last September.

That’s right! Back in September, Disney shared their plans of a Hocus Pocus remake featuring an all-new cast, and at first, fans of the OG movie weren’t down for the idea. However, now that this new queer storyline exists, we can’t help but wonder if Disney’s planning on basing the remake off of that.

NGL, if Disney does decide to include Poppy and Isabella’s romance in the new movie, we’d be willing to bet that a bunch of OG Hocus Pocus fans would change their tune. We mean… isn’t this the type of representation us millennials deserve?!

What do you guys think? Should the remake of the film be based off this new novel? As always, let us know in the comments section below Thanks for watching!
