Kanye West wasn’t worried about public reaction after his slavery comments, he was worried about Kim’s! He spoke with the New York Times about a lot of his recent interviews, and elaborated on the aftermath of his comments on TMZ.

One of his songs on his new album “Ye” called “Wouldn’t Leave” actually suggested that the TMZ appearance put his marriage in danger.

When asked to elaborate on that he said QUOTE, “There was a moment where I felt like after TMZ, maybe a week after that, I felt like the energy levels were low. And I called different family members and was asking, you know, ‘Was Kim thinking about leaving me after TMZ?’ So that was a real conversation.”

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Kim Kardashian West detailed her initial response to the controversy saing, “Did I cry about it? Did I fight about it? Yeah. That’s not stuff we put on social media. I’m not going to start tweeting what my thoughts are, but we have those moments.”

But back to the New York Times interview, Kanye attempted to reword his slavery comments saying QUOTE, “I said the idea of sitting in something for 400 years sounds — sounds — like a choice to me, I never said it’s a choice. I never said slavery itself — like being shackled in chains — was a choice. That’s why I went from slave to 400 years to mental prison to this and that. If you look at the clip you see the way my mind works.”

And when asked if he could clarify even more he added, “I feel like I’m in court having to justify a robbery that I didn’t actually commit, where I’m having to somehow reframe something that I never said. What I will do is I’ll take responsibility for the fact that I allowed my voice to be used back to back in ways that were not protective of it when my voice means too much.

He also explained a lot of the extreme things that he’s been known to just kinda blurt out saying, “I think an extreme thing; I adjust it, I adjust it, I adjust it. That’s the way I get to it, but I have to push to, you know, the furthest concept possible.”
